Milutin Đukanović, the Chairman of EPCG Board of directors and Ivan Mrvaljević, Manager of the Sector for development both attended SET 2021 Energy Summit, which took place in Trebinje on May 20th and 21st and was organized by Mixed Holding Power Utility of the Republic of Srpska, Trebinje Town and SET LLC supported by the sponsorship of the Ministry of foreign trade and economic relations, the Government of the Republic of Srpska and Končar Company.
Topics on which knowledge and experience were discussed through panels are highly important and relevant: Energy related strategies and energy-climate regional plans, investment cycles – construction of new power capacities, continued liberalization of electricity market in the region of South Eastern Europe, reform of district heating sector in the region, hybrid energy future, RES potential development and RES integration in energy system, models, conditions and obstacles for investing into energy sector.
Milutin Đukanović, chairman of EPCG Board of directors highlighted, during his speech at the Investment cycle panel – construction of new power capacities, that EPCG development must to be based on green energy implying thereby a full transition to renewable energy sources, cleaner air without additional investments and subventions, launching of an intense investment cycle without additional costs to citizens of Montenegro as well as creation of a model enabling all citizens to gain benefits through specific individual electricity generation programs.
Milutin Đukanović said that implementation of following projects: HPP ‘Komarnica’ 170 MW, WP ‘Gvozd 2’ of 250 MW capacity, HPP ‘Perućica’ Unit 8 with 54 MW, SPP ‘Briska Gora’ with the approximate capacity of 200-250 MW would take place in the nearest future. Thus, in the forthcoming four-year period we could realize and brought to an end the implementation of those projects increasing thereby by almost 100% the total existing capacity of 883MW. In just four years we would construct as many facilities as were built in the past 75 years.
