Thermal power plant Pljevlja has been reconnected again, after the regular annual overhaul which begun on March 31. Overhauling works are worth around three million euros.
Vladimir Šestović, director of TPP Pljevlja, is satisfied with the quality of overhauling works. He has pointed out that, in addition to usual interventions on boiler installation, in a machine hall, mill plant and auxiliary installations (coal supply, water chemical treatment, and auxiliary boiler room), overhauling included introduction of the system for online monitoring of a fire position in the boiler, as a precondition for bringing nitrogen oxides in flue gas to the allowed level.
– This way it is made possible to absolutely automate operation of a boiler installation, which will be used to control process of fuelling and creation of nitrogen oxides in flue gas. Investments into pump installation were made in chemical water treatment which serves for preparation of raw water for technological needs. The plant is made from the material which, according to the newest standards, is allowed for such type of technological purpose – said Šestović.
The online monitoring system is currently in its trial operation, and it has been installed into fifteen similar units in thermal power plants throughout Europe.
– We can boast that we are the first in the region to have introduced this system so that the project represents good introduction into already certain ecological rehabilitation of the first unit of TPP Pljevlja. Online monitoring has reduced quantity of damaging particles that go in the air, because combustion is more complete. It also has financial impact because certain quantity of consumed coal would be saved – added Šestović.
In addition to 'local' personnel, overhauling works were also carried out by personnel from several companies from ex-Yugoslavia, as well as by local companies engaged after regularly implemented public procurement procedure.
